Hey TSR,
I wanted to ask for your take on this.

I live in an apartment where the family below smokes. Now usually this is not a problem especially because this is not done frequently and if it is - usually outside. But sometimes the smoke from outside moves up and into our apartment making us smell smoke. All windows are usually closed but sometimes they are left open - especially on hot days. This means we may subconsciously inhaling their smoke.

Will this impact my family's health - especially if you can sort of smell it in the room we sleep in (due to air vents)?

Inhaling smoke is not going to be healthy for your family. Is it a lot of smoke?
Maybe alert them of the smoke coming into your room, and if it persists let the landlord know.
