Hi all,

I applied this year for Computer Science at Imperial. It's the AI and ML course (G700). The requirements are A* in Maths and AAA in Further Maths, Physics, and Computer Science as well as a grade 2 in STEP 2.

I'm pretty confident I will meet the A level requirements. I think there's a good chance I will get 4 A*s (my predicted) but I don't want to get my hopes up!

While studying for the STEP exam, I started very late. Although we have worked through questions at college I only started properly preparing last month. I've worked hard but when doing mocks never achieved more than a grade 3. Today we had our STEP 2 exam... it didn't go well. Optimistically, I scored about 40 marks and will miss my grade and hence the Imperial offer

I was wondering if anybody has any tips as for what I should do now? My insurance choice is Manchester Uni, which is a great Uni that I'm happy to go to, but I have my heart set on Imperial. Is there anything more I can do or should I cut my losses and accept I haven't got a place?

Thanks in advance.
Billy

Hi,
I'm in exactly the same position down to the AI and ML course. Except I probably didn't even get 20 lol, the exam was really hard for me and I should have prepared more.
I have the same question as you and am looking for advice so please if any other Imperial Computing applicants have an input do reply.
Honestly my thinking is, if you get a 3, I think you still have a shot but if you get a U it's unlikely.

Yeah, I found it really difficult too. I answered one question completely (the differential equations one) and got halfway through a few others. Which questions did you attempt?

I read somewhere that after they take everyone who met the offer if there are spare places on the course, they will take those who met the A Level grades but not STEP who were close to the grade boundary of a 2. We might still have a chance but I'm not feeling optimistic at the moment.
