Just not want anything; why must you have a birthday present on every single birthday? To me the best birthday present is to be able to celebrate it with your family (e.g. cake or lunch/dinner with them). No offence though..

Experiences? Like a meal at a nice resturant, or a short course in cheese tasting, or an adventure weekend. Something to remember rather than something to have.

Stuff useful to your course. if there are going to be a lot of outdoors field trips then a good pair of walking boots, good waterproof coat, socks, write in the rain notebooks or thermal layers etc will do you well throughout uni (I used to be an enviro student, everyone needed to be well kitted out for the trips).

If there's nothing else then perhaps just ask your family or friends to have a nice day / event with you. Maybe a restaurant, cinema, tea room etc or even just staying in with your favourite meals all day, a good movie and a takeaway can be nice.

What are you interested in if it isn't any of the above?
You could ask for:
- tech / gadgets, e.g. portable charger, bluetooth speaker, wireless headphones...
- Kindle
- Smart tech e.g. Alexa/google home etc,
- LED ceiling lights
- books
- board games
- projector
- video games / console
- watch a film at the cinema
