Laptop for uni- surface go 2?

I'm starting uni in September to study PPE (politics, philosophy and economics). I need to upgrade my old chromebook because it's very slow and basically broken, and I'm looking at the surface go 2. I'd ideally like to get it sooner rather than later, so I can use it over the summer as well. I've heard that the basic model is slow, but I don't want to spend loads of money. Does anyone have any experience using it, and is it any good for students?

I haven't used it but looking at the specs of it you could get much better for that price. Processor on that it quite slow and not a lot of ram and 64GB storage which could go quite quick depending on what software you need.
If you are looking at spending that amount, one laptop I found was ASUS VivoBook 15 15.6 Inch Ryzen 5 8GB 256GB FHD Laptop. That has more storage, double the amount of RAM and double the speed processor with a burst speed which is almost triple that of the surface go 2. And its the same price.
