Hello, I want to eventually work in a managerial role in the aviation industry and I am a triple A-A* student (doing psychology, geography and physics - yes it is a weird combination) and currently in Year 12. There are a few 'good' aviation management degrees like the one from Leeds which is 'Aviation Technology with Pilot Studies and Management' and the only other one I would ever consider is the one from Coventry which is 'Aviation Management'.

There are other unis but because I can get a triple A in my A-levels I do not want to apply to these unis which have much lower entry requirements. I am therefore considering just doing a general 'Management' degree that Warwick, Nottingham and other 'high-tier' unis do.

I am also planning to do an aviation-specific Masters after my Bachalor's no matter what so I am wondering if I could apply for the two above aviation-specific degrees and then apply for the more general 'Management' degrees (also maybe considering joint-honours Geography and Management) at once. As they are both management I think I could word my personal statement in a way that covers them both but I just want a bit more input.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Harryw007,

It's great to hear you're considering Coventry for Aviation Management. Understandably, it may not be your first choice considering your academic abilities, but they are options for backup/insurance if you feel there is a university better suited to you. Usually, your insurance is the university you fall back on if you don't get accepted into your first choice.

'Management' is ideal if you're open-minded about which area to specialise in as you will dip your toes in a bit of everything, therefore this will help open more opportunities for you if you decide to not go down the aviation route. It may be best to opt for this option and then do the masters with confidence and the knowledge behind you. However, if 'Aviation Management' is what you're set on, there is no harm in exploring those universities to see what they offer. This could be contacting admissions or speaking to current students to see what their experiences are.

In terms of studying 'Aviation Management' at Coventry, if interested, I can ask a friend of mine to get his perspective of the course to give you an idea of what it's like? If you're interested and you have questions you would like to ask, I can do that for you. Let me know your thoughts.

I hope this helps.
