Usually people complete their internships during 2nd year going into their 3rd year because there are more options for these years rather than 1st year. However, internships are always good experience and look great on your CV so are always worth doing! If you can get one then I would recommend doing one at any year.

Most people do them in the summer of 2nd year as they will have a clearer idea of the course and what they plan to do afterwards but there’s no harm in doing internships earlier should the opportunity present itself to you
