Does loneliness cause someone to think low of themselves?

Hello all,

This is something that I have recently observed and I would like to get a second opinion on.

I have noticed that whenever I'm alone, I tend to think quite lowly about myself and be very harsh on myself. Not having a 'established' group of friends may contribute to that but that's besides the point.

However, whenever I'm with friends, I feel a lot better about myself.

Just wondering if others experience the same things?

Many thanks!

I personally enjoy being alone as I think it’s important to be happy and content with yourself then feeling happiness through other people , I tend to feel the opposite and I feel better about myself when I’m alone

Id say I feel depressed more than having a low self esteem. In terms of having no friends I just think im unlucky and I know im not the only one ie you. Also I think I have a great personality lol, im funny, kind etc etc. But in terms of a relationship as iv never been with anyone tht is what makes me feel very low and ugly
