Hi, can anyone recommend some good books to read about life science, especially as I'm going to do Biology and Chemistry for A levels

Nick Lane is a good author to look into - I’ve read his book ‘Power, Sex, Suicide - Mitochondria and the Meaning of Life’ and I’m currently reading his other book ‘Oxygen’. However these may be a bit tricky if you haven’t yet started A levels but I’d still give them a go. ‘The Selfish Gene’ by Richard Dawkins is another one recommended for biology but I wasn’t a huge fan of it. I also enjoyed reading ‘10% Human’ by Alanna Collen as that one is all about bacteria and our microbiome.

Hi there,

Books I'd recommend include:

The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins (this book provides a background of some important evolutionary theory).

There is No Planet B by Mike Berners Lee (this book address how human societies might address the various environmental issues facing the planet over the coming decades).

The Naked Ape by Desmond Morris (this book looks at Homo sapiens from a zoological perspective).

Hopefully these recommendations will be helpful. Let me know what you think if you decide to give any of them a read
