How hard is further maths and how much hard is it to get top grades? I'm predicted 8/9 for gcse and hope to do engineering in the future but I can't decide whether to take the full or AS because I'm taking three other A levels.

Which university are you thinking of? Some require full A level but others don't require it at all.

Cambridge or Imperial are my dream unis but I also really like Bath, will not having the full A level affect me?

Have you checked what A levels are required?

Personally I'm finding that my ex-students are tending to prefer newer unis if they want to work in industry. For example, Cambridge don't offer a year in industry ...

Hi there! Glad to hear you are interested in Bath I am a current chemical engineering student at the University of Bath.

Purely from Bath's perspective, A-level further maths is not a requirement for engineering (although having an A in AS further maths, if it is not 1 of your 3 A-levels, can reduce your grade for some courses). I studied further maths but a lot of my coursemates didn't. I did find it really helpful and I'm glad I did it, but for me it was my 3rd A-level so I did not find the workload too overwhelming. If you are aiming for Cambridge, Imperial or even Bath, having further maths as a 4th A-level with definitely strengthen your application and a lot of applicants will have further maths as a 4th A-level.

Do let me know if you have any questions!
