a) P(Diamond or Spade) = P(Diamond) + P(Spade)
= 13/52 + 13/52 (13 cards in suit, 52 cards in a set)
= 26/52 = 1/2
b) P(Black Ace or Heart) = P(Black Ace) + P(Heart)
= 1/52 + 13/52
= 14/52 = 7/26

Hope this helps

How were you able to get the P(Black ace) as 1/52?

There is 1 black ace in a pack of cards. There are 52 cards in a pack. So there is a chance of 1/52 to get a black ace.

Does this help?

There are two black aces, the ace of clubs and the ace of spades.
