sub the values 1,p and q into the quadratic formula and simplify?

hey, im not exactly sure how to explain this, but think about how you would answer a completing the square question and work backwards- it would help if you convert 2 root 5 into root 20
i worked out that p=-6, q=-11- hopefully someone can explain a lot better than i can

i think i did a longer method
