This is completely spot on. And that’s coming from somebody who literally left the role for a promotion not long ago so I know things haven’t changed in relation to the great stress.

People who are talking about negativity. I disagree. People need to understand both sides of the coin to make an informed decision and the reality is that the job is hell. Look at the turnover ? It’s that for a reason.People can then take what they want from the forum and go with their gut. But people arent posting negative things for nothing, it’s because they don’t want people walking in blind like a lot of people have done.

To anyone taking the role then all the best and everyone within the forum hopes you do well. Worst comes to the worst then try and use your new role to gain great examples (which you will) and move on in the near future

That was exactly the intention. I think walking in blind will leave us open for disappointment, if we understand and be realistic with our expectations it will save us so much stress later when we actually start in the job.

I think you are the one who can help us all the most in this case! Can you please tell us what exactly was the biggest cause of the stress? - is it the unrealistic targets? the performance reviews? or the fact that we are dealing with potentially traumatised people? The thing that does scares me the most is writing the 5000-word decision letters within one day. I can usually generate high-quality essays and have done so throughout my Uni, however, to generate a well constructed and thorough legal decision letter within one day already seems so hard.

Speaking to someone in this role said they were very short staffed in this department, employing over 300 new people also adding the training I think things may have changed. Personally everyone let’s smash this and do our best we have tried so hard and waited so long to let nerves kick in and not try out best.

Let's hope for the best.

I am just hoping that the 300 plus new staff are not people hired just to fill in the places of the people who have left. I hope we are add on and not a replacement.

The woman at resources came back and said there was lots of slots still available and she couldn’t understand why I couldn’t book one. My friend who also got a job offer was able to book hers on Friday. Not sure what’s happened
