So I’ve just had to accept a uni room accommodation offer but I’m still unsure as to whether I’m going into accommodation or not. If I decide I don’t want the room given to me, can I decline before the start date?? I’m a gap year student so my grades are already confirmed

Depends on the terms of the contract you have signed.
Some Unis will allow you to back-out at the last minute with no penalties, others will charge you.

The contract says that you don’t have anything until when you start as it’s university owned accommodation. For example, what if I decide to go through clearing in august, am I allowed to terminate the room?

If this isnt clear from the contract, then email the Uni accommodation office and ask - they are the only people who can answer this.
