Not everyone can do these foundation / gateway years, you will need to meet the widening participation criteria before you can apply for it.

If you do meet it and managed to get an offer, it usually means a lower grade offer and you only have to do an additional year. As long as you pass that foundation year you are put directly into A100 medicine.
