really annoyed with myself

Ok so my final flatmate left halls today for the year. This year I've really struggled with my mental health and they've, unknowingly, really helped me because they were so friendly. The issue is I really wanted to say how grateful I was to them, but in that situation I just wasn't comfortable opening up because I don't discuss my mental health. I'm not really sure what I can do now because I may not see them over the summer since we'll both be at home so I feel as though I've missed my opportunity.

Any suggestions on what I can do I would be appreciated (I don't really think something like this should be sent as a text) so I really don't know what to do

ask to meet up maybe? talk and bring the topic up over food or something (depending on how casual you want to make it)
