Not that anyone should base their reasons for going into both careers for financial gain- I’m just curious 😊

A legal practitioner income is contingent on a multitude of factors, so it can be unpredictable.

As USA said, the amount of 'returns' you'll get depends on a multitude of factors. On the solicitor side, these will be:
(a) how much debt you're going into for uni
(b) how quickly you get a TC/pupillage after graduating
(c) if you have to work between graduating and starting the TC/pupillage, how much you're making
(d) if you qualify as a solicitor, the firm and the location
(e) how long you stay in private practice
(f) if you leave private practice, what you'll end up doing
(g) if you quit the legal profession entirely, what you'll end up doing

And that's just for solicitors! I'm sure that barristers and doctors have many variables that affect their own earnings.
