Didn't do fm last year- and was too late to change my choices until I figured out I wanted to apply for econ- I am only doing fm AS this year. Your ums definitely isn't too low, u should've applied

I thought I would have a better chance if I achieve 4A*s at A level and reapply.

That's fair enough, my parents would never let me reapply/take a gap year so this is my only chance really haha

I don't think my parents are too keen on the idea so I would definitely be working for most of it.

Got an interview without even sending of written work..
Is that normal aha?

yes, I think the essay isn't part of the criteria for shortlisting candidates for interviews, but rather something to discuss in the interview

Hi all, I've been invited for interview to study maths and they've requested 3 subjects to focus on at interview (I'm not sure if they do this for all subjects or just maths). Does anyone know how much they stick to these topics? The person interviewing me is a stats specialist, and stats is by far my weakest area of maths. I was just wondering if I put 3 pure topics down whether or not that will be the whole interview, or just most of it, I don't want to spend 5 minutes on what I requested and then 25 minutes on stats, although I see this as unlikely. It seems I also only have 1 interview as well. If anyone knows anything I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Queens' comp sci here

Do you by any chance know who Jake Wright on YouTube is? He made weekly vlogs and he was a CompSci at Queens. It was quite helpful, despite the fact I'm not applying to Queens or for CompSci {well im in Year 11 so..}He graduated last year.

I'm thinking; 1) Calculus (differentiation and integration) 2) Algebra, functions and graphs 3) Numbers and proofs (classic interview stuff like prove sqrt2 is irrational, infinitely many primes, etc - just because that's what I prepared for as it seems most 'past interview questions' are like these)

I assume they want to topics for me to work on, rather than something to discuss.

It almost seems too easy if we choose our own questions?

Are you applying, if so, what subject?

They'll definitely find ways to extend you, even on topics you've prepared for. I'm also applying for maths.

Definitely. Do you mind if I ask if you've been invited for interview and what subjects you're putting down for your 3?

Also, do you know how strictly they will stick to these topics? I could spend the next week (my interview is in a week) just on these topics, but then I may get caught out if they only glance over them and spend most of the time on other things.

Haven't heard from them about an interview yet. Have no idea how much they stick to topics - it will probably be quite a bit on your topics since the interviews are only 20 minutes.

Well, hopefully they'll get back to you soon.
It's likely I heard back early as my interview is early.
