Do you also get your offer by email on the 11th? Otherwise internationals (like me) may have to wait even longer...

welp, interview's today, wish me luck!anyone else?

Hey guys, I had my Economics interview at basically the same time as you, 30th November - shame I hadn't looked on the thread before my interview. How did yours go?

Also, do you mind me asking your UMS average? (unless you didn't take AS levels!)

How are you feeling about decisions day?

Edit: interview questions removed because apparently you're not allowed to share them

I'm being nosy because the same week of my interview I went to an offer day at UCL and found a guy who had had an econ interview on the same day as me and he got asked exactly the same questions as me.

My questions were:?

Don't share interview questions!

Like the person above me, I also urge you not to share the questions, especially seeing as my interview was entirely identical to yours.

to answer your question though, it went alright, there wasn't anything I couldn't answer although i needed some help here and there (the maths bit not at all but the second bit confused me and i kept spacing out lol)

I do not have a UMS average as I am an international student (European Baccalaureate)

To be honest I don't think sharing what I was asked at interview is going to make a great deal of difference at this stage, as even if Queens' does decide to interview some applicants drawn from the pool it is pretty unlikely that the applicants will see this post. There are so many example interview questions out there and I was only specific about the graph sketching question.

I was quite surprised that the interview didn't refer to my personal statement/economics knowledge/interview topics at all - despite my spending weeks preparing for it! I felt my interview went well but who knows to be honest, we'll see in 9 days time.

Good luck for then.

There's a high chance they may reuse questions every year  I guess if they do, then bravo to any Queens' applicant for 2017 that looks up this post haha

Yeah i spent so much time preparing that as well and then there was no discussion involved in the interview. It made me sad because that's where i can shine :frown:

Im feeling the same way about now, when I came out from the interview i felt I had done really well, although at this stage, looking back on it, it feels like my performance was just meh. I'll try not to get my hopes up and yes, all we can do is wait and see in 9 days :/ Speaking of which, will they email or post the decisions? I'm abroad so I'd have to wait an additional week if they post them

I know right, I revised so so so much - all my maths A level, what I've done so far of further maths, all my economics AS plus all the 'super-curricular' work I've done i.e. books, summer school, work experience, research... I felt if they'd asked me on that I could really have shown my enthusiasm for the subject! I guess that they really want to see how you think and how you tackle unseen problems.

When I came out I thought I'd done well and I gave it my best shot but if I don't get an offer I won't deny that I will be devastated. Of course Oxbridge isn't the be all and end all but I have had my heart set on it for years.

I've contacted the Admissions Office via Facebook (unconventional I know) regarding letters/emails so hopefully they'll get back to me tomorrow and I'll let you know what they say. I am pretty certain they post letters with decisions and I've no idea about emails. Being an international applicant it would make sense for them to send you an email!
I received a reply from Queens' Admissions regarding decisions - they said:

'Decision letters will be sent by first class post on 11th January.'

I assume that means that no emails are sent to UK applicants and potentially not to international applicants either!

Thanks so much! I guess I'll have a very suspenseful week waiting for that letter to arrive in Belgium ._.

Christ's Admissions just posted in The Official Cambridge Applicants Thread 2016 Entry MK IV:

'On when people will hear, it was agreed by the colleges that everyone outside the UK should hear by email on 12th. Obviously some colleges have forgotten this - it was agreed in April by ATs and may not have been passed on to Admissions Secretaries/Co-ordinators. I am chasing this up with the overall Director of Admissions for the Colleges and, (I hope!) we will ensure that all non-UK applicants will hear by email on 12th.
Update: Just had an email from the Director of Admissions to say that colleges will be reminded!'

Well, I think they will also inform international applicants via email, since my friend received her offer on the 12th of January, and she lives in Shanghai.

I'm being nosy because the same week of my interview I went to an offer day at UCL and found a guy who had had an econ interview on the same day as me and he got asked exactly the same questions as me.

My questions were:

1) Why do you want to study Economics at Cambridge?
2) Sketch the following equation:

f(y) = (1 - t)y + t/a (1 - e ^-ay)

Where t and a are constants, a > 0, 0 < t < 1
3) Exercise relating friendships to costs and benefits and the conditions which must be fulfilled in order for a system of friendships to be in equilibrium… very hard to explain but nothing I had seen before.
4) Can you relate the indirect benefit seen in this exercise to something you’ve previously met in Economics?
5) Do you have any questions for us which can be answered in less than a minute?

Also, do you mind me asking your UMS average? (unless you didn't take AS levels!)

How are you feeling about decisions day?

Got asked the exact same questions:/
I felt bad about my interview though

Queens' comp sci here

Nice, have you came across a youtuber called 'JakeWright'
https://www.youtube.com/user/jaketvee

He made videos consistently throughout his entire BSc Comp Sci degree
while at Queen's college, Cambridge.
Don't stress, lots of successful applicants feel their interview went awfully
anyone for PBS ?
