How it is like to go to a foreign university like UK or America? How are people there and is it easy to make friends there? Can I get any suggestions for university that are comfortable for foreigners trying to adjust in a new place and meet friends?

Hi there,

I am an international student from Hungary studying in the UK at Coventry University and I have completed my final year this year.
So, in my first year I decided to live in a student accommodation, which was the best decision. I made quite a lot of friends within my accommodation and through them even more friends. I also made sure to participate in as many freshers activities as I could so I could get to know more people at the whole university and not just on my course. There are also a lot of sport clubs and societies that you can join, so making friends and getting to know people should be fairly easy.
Coventry University helped a lot to get adjusted to life in the UK, overcome the culture shock. The university was very welcoming and helpful with everything. I also got quite a lot of help from my British friends who introduced me more to the life of younger people there.
If you are open to meet a lot of new people and set your mind to do a bit more socialising, it will be a lot easier to make new friends! Also, don't be afraid to ask questions from your university team and your new friends, in my experience they will try to hep you as much as possible.
