Hey guys!!

Weird question, did you all receive an email to fill a survey regarding the application process at Oxford? Or do they send these to the rejected students only? I’m a bit worried:frown:

I got the survey email and have an offer, so I think it’s just automatic.

Congratulations on the offer, that's fantastic!

It's very likely they're still sending out interview invites. Last year, there were three different interview sessions, Jan, March and July I think. Let's keep hopeful and fingers crossed

Finger cross for that. And best wishes for your interview!

Just got an interview invite 10 mins ago. Jan 10-14, same format as last year ( 5-min, 2-slide presentation followed by 20 mins Q&A.

Which course did you apply to, if you don't mind me asking? Was it one of the neuroscience programs or psychological research?

How long does it take Oxford to give you an offer for DPhil after the interview? (Medical Sciences if it's relevant)

Have you got an interview invite already?

Thank you!!

Hi! Do you know whether the department sends the invitations at the same time for interviews in Jan? Will there be some invitations in early Jan for interviews in Jan?

Anyone applying for a Dphil in Law? I'm slightly anxious because I turned down Oxford's offer at the very last minute for their master's course earlier this year, so I'm really hoping there would be no prejudice against me because of this. I'm 99% sure I'm just being paranoid though.

Also (and this might be a shot in the dark), is anyone planning on giving All Soul's a go?

I am not sure. But I think it'd be best to email the admin from next week if you haven't received the interview invite

Is it common to be rejected at Oxford but accepted at Cambridge and Vice versa?

Last year, it seemed as though it might have been more common to get an offer from Cambridge but not from Oxford. But I might be biased because I wasn't following the Cambridge postgraduate thread. But anyway, I think it still stands that people often get an offer from one and not the other (and some that get both, but not as many). My guess is because the research interests seem to vary quite a bit between the universities. For instance in my case, Oxford quite uniquely has staff and specialisms in the areas that I'm interested in but Cambridge hardly does, so if I had applied with the same materials it's highly unlikely that I would have got in (but then again I didn't get into Oxford, although I did at least get on the waiting list). My point is that, amongst all the digressions, it's quite a common thing to get an offer from one and not the other.

The Oxford thread for postgraduate study is far quieter than the Cambridge one though, which I find interesting - was hoping to see more applicants for my course here

Master of Public Policy - I've chatted with two other applicants on separate threads and through private message, but for some reason was expecting TSR to be flooded with plenty of applicants  I haven't met other Cambridge counterparts either.

Rigorous. But waiting for admission decision. You?

It was stressful but I’m sort of excited to see if I’ve been admitted or not.

Hey! I've applied for this course too, and was also looking at how quiet the thread is compared to the Cambridge one. I can't believe we'll only know by March, the wait is absolutely killing me...

Hello, hello! I hear you, the wait until March will feel like an eternity.

Granted, I'm fairly new to TSR so not sure what previous posting trends have been where Oxford and Cambridge postgraduate studies are concerned, but there's an obvious disparity between the two this year.
