Out of interest are guinea pigs like hamsters where they shouldn't go in water/have baths? Or can they have them? :biggrin:

but its a bit of a controversial issue about how often you should do it and some people think its unessecary to do it at all.
I do wash mine like twice a year simply because they are long haired and they can get quite smelly even with the best cleaning in the world. Additionally rescues usually come a bit dirty so we tend to give them a bath a few months after they have settled in.
The water shouldnt go past their chin and you should use small pet animal shampoo designed for guinea pigs. It's best to avoid water near their eyes and ears :smile:

Ooh that's really interesting thanks. I know a lot about hamster care now but barely anything about guinea pigs!

Oh Cavy - that is so brilliant - seeing Tom cry as he got his medal was really emotional. They've just interviewed Tom's mum and his husband on BBC1...
