Hi Adragonfly,

Aiming for a 1st or 2.1 can definitely be difficult but is doable. I am a Primary Education and Teaching Studies student too and I find that the most important thing you can do is balance your time right. To complete an assignment to such a high level takes a lot of time, whether that be researching, writing or amending. When trying to juggle this around placements too, you need to make sure you're setting aside enough time each day/week to do extra research and prepare for your assignments.

With high grades comes a lot of criticality, especially within essays. Being critical with your writing, comparing and contrasting ideas and theories will really help bring up your grade. Once again, this does take time but I've added a couple of links below on how to write critically. Also, as well as using online resources (some of which I’ve linked below), see if your university offers academic writing services. At Coventry University we can get academic writing support in order to improve criticality. They can also help to look through assignment briefs for a deeper understanding too. Once you've got this under your belt, hopefully you'll see your grades increasing.
