3 days to go and idk!!!!!

I’m reconsidering my course or to a course more specialised

Basically I wanna do business management coz I have an interest in business ,idk wat, idk wat area in business would suit me, Idk anything

Maybe my pan wild be do it and then maybe after my first year I can change to a specialised course like marketing or after my undergrad then change , I just want to get the broad view of the general stuff and then,,, or do u guys think that would just be like a level and gcse stuff , coz I did business in both!!

Maybe business economics which I’m looking at now! Or international business??
If anyone knows economics if they can help , like introductory, help if I can change my course to that maybe ? What it’s like

Have a look at the modules on your course and the other business courses at that university. Usually you can swap between similar courses at a single university no problem as long as the modules are the same. Lots of universities deliberately leave the modules on BM broad so that you can specialise in later years once you have more idea about what areas you enjoy.

Don’t be pressured by family into studying something you’re not sure about. If you’re not happy then it will be a struggle - stick to your guns and study what you want.

Some people seem to really enjoy undermining people - even their friends and family. It’s their own insecurities not something that you should let get to you.

@PQ Hi, I wanted to clarify if this article is true? It alarmed me a lot when I read it, and I’m seeing this on multiple news outlets!

https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/national/19497427.medical-students-told-can-defer-year-despite-funding-extra-places/

If they have too many people, they are going to have to do something - shunt them around or defer them. And I would guess they are going to have to pay to get people to agree to it.
More interesting is whether the over-subscription clauses some unis seem to have slipped into their T&Cs will be used, amd if so, whether they will stand up to legal scrutiny!

does anyone know if teachers can give us grades different to what we got in our final exams?? for example if I got an A in all the exams my teachers used as evidence is it guaranteed I'll get an A as a final grade?

It depends on what your school has submitted as part of your " basket of evidence". If you have consistently achieved "A"s in all your assignments and tests, then you can be pretty confident that your final grades will be "A"s, otherwise you can't be certain. My daughter's college submitted a range of evidence from coursework grades ( history) to end of module assessment grades( maths) as well as the mocks and end of year exam grades. They then told each student what was in their basket of evidence and the grade that was awarded to each piece of said evidence. My daughter is fortunate in that her grades were all consistent, so she's pretty certain that she's got the grades she needs, whereas her friend has had grades submitted which range from A* to B in the same subject. In cases like that it's hard to predict the final grade.

Haven’t got the slightest clue
Good luck to all A level students receiving their results! :jumphug: Whatever happens happens, you will just come out as a stronger person on the other side.

Are your results read out to you on a scroll of vellum?
thought I’d weigh in as a Scottish student since there are no results threads for us- but our results day is the same day anyway.

Current subjects/grades?
Higher English, Spanish, Italian, Modern Studies, and Art. All A’s.

This years subjects?
Higher French, Higher Politics, Advanced Higher Modern Studies

What university is your firm/insurance?
Firm is University of Leeds (Conditional), Insurance is University of Glasgow (Unconditional)

Which subject?
Italian and Japanese at Leeds, Italian and German at Glasgow

What grades are required?
B at any higher or A at advanced higher (no, I have no idea why they’re asking for that because advanced highers are so hard and a B at higher is so easy lol)

Feeling a bit nervous for results day. We got our ‘provisional’ results back in June after we did our assessments (“they’re not exams!” say all the teachers so we’d be less stressed apparently) and I got A’s for all my subjects, but honestly I just feel anxious about the grades fiasco last year. I was predicted 5 A’s at higher last year and although I got 4 A’s, I was initially given a B at Art. It may not sound too bad but it was really upsetting to me because I had worked SO HARD in art, especially to have my folio completed before lockdown started which meant staying after school for an hour or two multiple times a week for the last month of school. I cried a lot because of that last year. I know things are going a bit smoother this year since we had “exams”, coursework, and other assessments, but I can’t help but worry the SQA are going to pull the same stuff they did last year by lowering grades.

But otherwise I’ll just be relieved to never think about SQA results day again lol. I feel like the wait has been SOOO long this year. I’ve been done with school since the 3rd of June, which means I’ve had just over 9 weeks of ‘summer holiday’ so far and I still have just less than 6 weeks to go until I move in to uni! I’m so bored..

Yes I am worried too and have been having nightmares too I cannot lie. It’s not a nice feeling. I have an A*AA offer too and am worried I may not make it. I also am a bit worried about what my school will do and whether it will be fair or not.

Me too. How can they standardise results and ensure it’s fair when some schools didn’t take any exams/ some schools used exam board material/ some schools made their own questions? Grade boundaries surely will be different for every school so how does it work? Hopefully if we get ****ed over with grades again this year and everyone complains we might all end up getting our predicted grades again.
