The Student Room Group
It depends on the dynamics of the relationship
As far as people you’re not close with, don’t say that
Not unless you are an american living in the usa socialising with a social circle where everyone are happy to use & hear this type of slang at all times.
Girls and guys.

That one slang term seems to be grossly overused within a variety of contexts.
It also has the potential to generate some very negative reactions amongst all those who despise the comedy tv series or are harsh critics of bro culture.
I wonder if a similar situation will arise in relation to a scenario when american girls start calling their guy friends sis or sista and encounter guys who despise either the sistas tv series .
A random girl? No.
A girl friend of yours who's familiar with you using similar terms? Well, I don't see any problem with it.

I would call any close-ish friend bro ironically regardless of gender. Don't tend to use it unironically.
