Civil rights NEA

Hi,
I’m in year 12 and we’ve just been introduced to the topic of our NEAs which is the civil rights movement across any 100 year period from 1865-present day.
I feel completely stuck at the first hurdle because I don’t really know where to start researching because it’s such a huge topic!
I was wondering if anybody had any useful books or sources about civil rights, or tips about how to start an NEA?!
TIA x

Hi, whilst I didn't do the civil rights movement for my NEA ( I did the suffrage movement) I feel like I could still give you information which could be useful. First make sure to write down every website you visit and every book you read along with the date you looked at it as you will need this for your bibliography. For interpretations, use google scholar as this is also good to find only shows academic work which your interpretation needs to be from. Personally I found it easiest to do my research chronologically so go on google and maybe look up the origins of the civil rights movement and work from there. Also look up a timeline for the civil rights movement and look up on google the events that it mentions and find some more information on them, this should give you a good starting point. Good luck!
