you're getting some incredibly bad advice here.

no employer in the UK carries around a list of RG unis when they look at applicants. just cuz a few prestigious universities (namely Oxford, Cambridge, LSE etc) fall into RG doesn't mean RG is prestigious in and of itself or will make a difference in whether a UK employer will sponsor you to stay in the UK.

when a UK employer sponsors someone they need to make a case to immigration that they should have hired you over a home applicant. attending an RG uni in itself probably won't qualify, sorry :frown: what's your CV look like atm?

Spot on Joleee totally agree. The employers dont sit there with a list of RG unis when going through your cv/resume, unless its like oxbridge or LSE, UCL maybe.

Hey, I'm kind of in the same dilemma. Im also an intl student and am very very confused between qmul and lacnaster for the Management & IT course. The advantage of qmul I've heard is that it's more prestigious than lancaster since its russel+its in london. Downside is obv since its in london, its more exp than lancaster. Anybody got any advice?

You go for what you feels right for you. London and Lancaster are opposites when it comes to social aspect. London is busier and more expensive to live, where lancaster is the opposite (not too quiet though). Depends on what you class as prestige. If its in the UK, an employer will not be looking at their list of RG unis when it comes to employment, but perhaps other countries do? I'd say Lancaster overall last year during covid was one of the best unis to go to and handled the situation well compared to some others and my eldest had a blast. QMUL is a good uni too, but your downside of living in London; is that going to be a huge factor? If it is then Id suggest Lancaster.
