Imperial EIE Personal Statement

I really like the look of Imperial and I would want to apply for both CS and EIE there, but if I apply with a CS personal statement would that be alright for EIE as well.
Also if you applied for EIE what things did you put in your ps.
Also would I get separate interviews because they are in different departments.

Thanks guys

You could quite easily. A CS personal statement would work quite well for EIE and tbh if you wrote an EIE personal statement it would almost be identical to the CS one anyway.
Also, since the departments are different you will be treated as a completely fresh applicant in each, so yes you will get 2 different interviews. In fact, the CS department will most likely not even know you applied for EIE and vice versa.

A quick question, why is it you want to apply for both courses?

Hello!

I'm Anudi, a student rep for Imperial.

About the interview - yes, it would be 2 different ones, as the previous post mentioned, because they're two departments your application will be processed individually by each one.

For the personal statement, just some general pointers to remember:
Your personal statement is one of the key ways to make an application stand out. Generally, as a rough guide the personal statement should be split 75-90% academic interests (including everything you've done to prepare for the course) and 10-25% on non-course-related interests, e.g. extracurricular activities.

You need to use your personal statement to demonstrate your interest and a passion for the subject beyond what is being learnt in the classroom, for example, a book you may have read, a lecture you attended, a podcast you listened to, or a course you took.

Therefore do keep the above in mind when writing your PS, as it would ideally show the above for both courses.

Let me know if you have any questions.
All the best!

Thanks a lot, I kind of want to apply to both because both courses are really interesting and if I don't get into computing cos its really competitive I can get into eie.

Hi, I am also interested in applying to CS or EIE at imperial. I have been doing some projects as well and I don’t know how I should structure them in my PS. Could I perhaps have a look at your personal statement please?
