It's Gold for Team GB in the 4x200m Free.

Duncan Scott is the first to win swimming Gold for Scotland since the great David Wilkie.

2 golds for the Welsh swimmers too.

Another good morning in the pool for Britain, currently sitting on our Olympic swimming gold record. Can we exceed it? Peaty is still to swim the 50m breastroke.

I just caught up the 4x200 relay and my goodness what a race!

Apparently we now have the most gold medals in swimming (three) since 1908

HK is going to extend the record of most medals ever in a single games as a third one is coming to THAT same person, Siobhan Haughey, who is in the final of 100m freestyle!
There is a station named Olympic in HK, so I think the recent medalists should be included on the walls!

We withdrew because this event isn't our best hope. It is because the team decided to give Siobhan Haughey some rest and go for the medal.
No medals for GB in the pool last night, but impressive performances from the Americans throughout. I look forward to today's heats.

Another one for Siobhan Haughey! Take a bow!

Excellent stuff :congrats:
It's a Silver for Duncan Scott, making him one of the most decorated British swimmers in History.

And Luke Greenbank snatches a Bronze in the 200m backstroke. First time a British medal in this event.
It's only today I've realised that the only 50m event in this olympiad is the freestyle. No 50m Breastroke, Backstroke or Butterfly. That could have been an additional gold for Peaty. :s-smilie:

I watched the replays over lunch today and what fantastic races!
Wellbrock long time in the lead, lost gold, but at least won bronze in Men's 1500m, congratulation! :king3:
A silver in the men's 4x100 medley relay.

Duncan Scott now on 6 Olympic medals in his career. With promise for more in Paris. He could start to rival the likes of Bradley Wiggins in British terms.

For Team GB it's been our most successful Olympics in the pool ever, looking at total medals. Not quite in terms of number of Golds (1908 still takes that crown), but there is great optimism in British swimming.

I just caught up the mixed medley (gold!) and the men's medley (silver, as you say), and they were both fantastic races

I agree that there seems to be great momentum in Team GB swimming. Commentators are calling it the 'Peaty effect'.

Must say I am not too fussed on Peaty's aggressive attitude. He makes a partially valid point about the team having belief - but I think generally a lot of things are just aligning well. Duncan Scott is the most decorated British Swimmer - not Peaty. James Guy has been swimming forever and has provided the team with a real level head and experience. Tom Dean's gold was really a fluke. A brilliant fluke, but a surprise all the same at his debut Olympics. The British women have done brilliantly, consistently in finals (as we always have done) and stealing some silvers and bronzes, plus solid relay performances. But we've always done that. There's been no hugs gold stars for female swimming since Becky Adlington in 2008 with her 2 golds in 1 games. Peaty has won 2 individual olympic golds (1 in Tokyo, 1 in Rio). So on that basis, I wouldn't give much credence to this "Peaty effect", it's just a brilliant progression that's been building in British swimming since Adlington caused a funding injection from 2008 and Adam Peaty just happens to be on the crest of this wave in my opinion.
What a great performance by Wellbrock! wins gold with 20 seconds advance, congratulations! :king1: my deepest respect to the swimmers. 10 km is terrific!
