Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Skateboarding

Attachment not found

Welcome to the Tokyo Olympics 2020!

~This thread is all about Skateboarding~

This is one of five new events for the 2020 Olympics, and is made up of two disciplines: Street, made up of an urban-style course with stairs, handrails, walls and benches, and Park, featuring a steep-sided bowl-like course. Both disciplines have separate medals, and are further split into men's and women's events, making four medal events in total.

The schedule can be found here.

Use this thread to make your predictions about this sport, and discuss the events as they happen.
@AngryJellyfish looks like that I am the first who give you a reply, yay!

Are you interest in skateboarding, just due to the games or in general? Tell me your favorites for the medals, I have no idea.

I've always found it appealing to watch, though I lacked the balance and co-ordination (and flat ground, living in rural North Wales!) to take part in it. :colondollar:

I don't know much about this year's entrants, but I do know that one of the ones representing Team GB (Sky Brown) is going to be the youngest British summer Olympian ever. Ranked 3rd in the world as well, apparently!

Sounds like a British hope for a medal. The best of luck the youngest Olympian!
AWESOME. Can't wait to watch this. I love skateboarding.
Watching this on the BBC currently (being aired late afternoon on a main channel is pretty good for skateboarding I must say).

I am really enjoying how much freedom these athletes have in the sport.
The women were not very good. :colondollar:

Watching this made me wish I hadn't given up skateboarding. It was so much fun and a great hobby. I hope more people get involved in skateboarding after seeing it in the Olympics.

I know, you are the Tony Hawk gamer, I did not forget it. In the news I learnt that a 13 year old Japanese skater won a gold medal. What is the minimum age to participate in? Is she the youngest gold medal ever now?

Tony Hawk!

I think it's incorrect - she isn't the youngest gold medal, there was someone even younger. IIRC the UK has a 13 year old girl on their team too though.

It's amazing how they skate given their age and I look forward to watching them continuing to evolve their skateboarding.
Watched some of the skateboarding event the other day - they were amazing :awesome:

:king3: Bronze for Sky Brown of GB - 13 year old

Behind a Japanese 1-2 - a 12 year old taking silver :woo:
