Fluffy hair after shower

Right, I've got medium length hair (male); just measured it and it ranges from around 2" on the sides to about 3.5" on the top. It's also quite thick. After a shower my hair 'fluffs out' (can't think how else to explain it, it just goes 'bigger'), but if I don't wash it for 2 days or so (give or take 1/2 day) it doesn't particularly get greasy just more flat (i.e. better).
Is there any way I can stop it getting all fluffy after washing it? I hate not washing it but hate the bigness too :p:

Cheers

Subscribing to this as I have the same problem. Only solution I've found so far is to rub a tiny amount of wax through my hair.

Try a little serum?

Try washing your hair in colder water.

Do you use conditioner, because it could be that your using too much if you are using it? or using too hot water and its washing out your natural oils?

I've got the same problem. The only solution i have ever tried is using hair wax and a hair dryer.

Apply the wax after you have half dried your hair.
Then dry it into the place you want it with the hairdryer.

It works, however it tends to move alot in the wind.

OR you could just cut your hair really short.

I use conditioner sometimes. I've heard about the heat of water affecting this before; I don't really see how it would matter? It probably does because I've heard it from so many people, but can't see the logic behind it.

EDIT: Just realised the logic is that colder water closes the pores, therefore making your hair lay flatter.

Don't want short hair again really, but yes it does work. I'll try using wax next time, I won't be faffing around with a blow dryer though :p: ; will try it just with wax.

I have this problem too, which is why I refrain from washing too often! After all, it's been said that your hair looks its best the 2nd/3rd day after you wash it.

I find that gel doesn't seem to hold as well in your hair when it's been newly washed.

I try not to use little amounts of shampoo/conditioner (just enough to get the job done) and putting a small amount of gel through all of my hair when I get out of shower.

I rub a bit of coconut oil on my hands to make them greasy, and then rub it rigorously into my hair. I usually only put it on the back and sides, because the top flattens itself out.
