Advice on studying business at university
is a degree in business management worth it? because people always look down on it
"Worth it" is very personal. A business management degree is perfect for you if you are interested in business and want a broad degree that can apply to a variety of different roles, and often business management allows the opportunity to choose your own specialisations during your course. I know a couple of people who have just graduated from Business Management (or similar degrees) and they've thoroughly enjoyed their time at uni, and are all moving into different jobs.
In regards to people looking down on the course, I've seen it too and it is mostly just jokes. How broad the course is and how it is not often seen as a key class in high school has led people to assume it is simple, when in reality there are a great deal of concepts and techniques ranging from brand new to ancient, and studying these can give you opportunities to do lots of interesting things.
You should research the course itself to figure out if it's something you're interested in, because it is a very wide subject area. If you're interested more about business/business management, I'd be happy to answer any questions about it. Strathclyde has a very large business school, so I'm sure I can find someone to answer anything I don't know.
Have a great day,
