I’ve struggled with what I think is depression for almost 10years. I’ve had really low days, anxiety attacks and I want help. I want to finally be happy and get over this.
I’ve filled out a self referral on selfhelpservices.org.uk but haven’t heard back. What is it like through the ? Does it help? I don’t know if therapy or meds are better.
Should I talk to a GP or see what happens after I get a referral first?

If your depression continues for so long, then you urgently need to see a specialist psychiatrist who will help you. I think that you do not need a therapist to determine your diagnosis, because everything is clear here. You need to go to a psychotherapist as soon as possible who will help you or prescribe some kind of clinical treatment for you.
