I'll hopefully be studying at UCL in September but missed the accommodation deadline and need to apply for private housing. However, it's been difficult to find private student halls made for lower budgets so does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally under £230 a week and close to Bloomsbury (and not a twin room)

Your budget is a bit low for a private room based on single student only occupacy within central zone.
You may want to consider a private houseshare living with professionals and students.
Have you checked out the spareroom site?

If you're prepared to travel 14-15 mins on the tube to Warren Street and then walk a short distance you could look at

Or

£230 was likely a bit optimistic lol so I'll likely have to increase my budget! I have no idea how others afford London especially as I'm entitled to one of the higher maintenance loans but still can't seem to afford anything >.< Thank you for the link though, I'll check it out!

There's building work going on around both halls because both areas are being regenerated. Bear that in mind, but otoh both areas are improving.
