Basketball has been an Olympic sport consistently since 1936, for men at least, with women having to wait another forty years for their chance. This more traditional version of the sport features two teams of five players, each trying to get the ball through the opposing team's hoop.

3x3 (pronounced three-ex-three) basketball makes its Olympic debut this year. The game uses half a basketball court, with two teams of three competing to put the ball through the same hoop.
