Im currently working at a minimum wage server job for a hotel. It took me months to finally find a job and I've been working here for about 3 weeks. I have a holiday booked to go and see some family that i havent seen in over 2 years bc of pandemic. The holidays only 10 days long and I explicitly told the manager about this while I was being interviewed and she said it would be fine. But I've been rotad to work basically everyday of my holiday. All the e-mails being sent to us are hardcore guilt tripping people into not booking any time off because its "just a request not a demand" and "the hotel needs you" basically saying that we're selfish for not wanting to work essentially every single night (literally i know 2 people that worked every night for a week and a half straight). I emailed saying I booked this holiday months ago and told the manager very early on and that this is the only opportunity ill have to see family for a long time and that I am super sorry about it and got a reply saying something along the lines of "thats cute, still gonna probably need you to work some days as we're super busy" im going several thousand miles away i cant just pop by randomly to work. I feel a bit insulted that they think i can just hop back on a plane to work for them or even not go on holiday at all and stay here to work my minimum wage job where people constantly scream at me because there isnt enough quinoa on their salad. I dont want to quit because I want this job for some work experience to go on my CV but I'm conflicted about whether its worth it. Tbc its not just the holiday its the whole mentality of the place. Servers dont get acknowledged by anyone and the amount of work we have to do compared to the bartenders and hosts is unbearable sometimes. So what do i do do i leave or am i being entitled

There will always be another opportunity to find a job and maybe one thay respects you a bit better. As more things open up you should be able to jump back into one. Also there is a government scheme which pays employees to hire younger people so there are more jobs becoming avaliable. I say go on holiday, if they are that short staffed the job will be there when you get back but look for a second option whilst you are away. Know your worth!
