How do I tell my girlfriend the truth?

One time my girlfriend asked if I had ever liked my friend. I told her no (I dont know why at the time) when in reality there was a time I had told the friend I had feelings for her two years ago. Looking back at it, I don't think I ever liked my friend; I never saw her in my future or thought we were similar in any sense, she was just a close girl friend at the time that I guess I got my feelings confused with. I don't really talk to that friend in general but we are still friends and a close friend of mine whos also friends with the girl I was planning to meet up with and bring my girlfriend along and I'm worried they may mention about the past. I love my girlfriend and I don't know why I didn't just tell her the whole truth. My girlfriend has said just in general if I ever am to lie then she'd break up with me so I'm not sure what to do.
Just be fully honest. Say what you said here, but be straight to the point.

You can say

“Actually, I just remembered that.....”

and just tell your girlfriend. It’s never too late. And it’s
perfectly fine to like someone when your girlfriend wasn’t in the picture.

I doubt any good friend of yours will mention your past to try and ruin your relationship though, if someone did that they’d be cut off tbh.
