Hi,

I applied for the postgraduate masters loan to cover the costs of studying a masters in England. However, my loan status was 'not eligible' because I put my home address in Ireland as my residence on the 1/09/2021. My course doesn't start until October and I had planned to move to England at the end of September. I have been told that I need to be in England on the first because that is the first day of the academic year but it seems like such an unnecessary expense to pay for extra rent and living costs.

If it is a technicality, could I put down my address from the 1/09/2021 as my student accommodation, but not arrive until the end of September? Or will I be asked for proof of physically being in England on the first?

My priority is getting the loan and I don't want to jeopardise that, but I don't understand this rule.

Thanks, Isaac
