Hi, I'm starting Year 13 this year and I need help on choosing two books to compare for my A-Level coursework. I've already picked a post-1900 book; The Book Thief, but I'm having trouble finding a pre-1900 book to compare it to. Any suggestions?

I suppose it depends if you have a theme that you want to investigate.

A quick google (as I've never read The Book Thief) shows:
- The Power of Words
- The Kindness and Cruelty of Humanity
- Duality
- The Responsibility of the Living to the Dead

Possibly research these if you want or possibly scroll through something like Penguin Classics and read up on anything that catches your eye

I do OCR so we have to compare a book to either poetry or a drama but the book I chose was Carrie by Stephen King (which is post-1900)

Hope that helps

Thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate it
I do Edexcel so we can compare any two books as long as one is pre-1900 and one is post-1900
But you've chosen an interesting book, Stephen King's books never disappoint
I hope you enjoy studying it
