    hey guys,
im thinking about setting a website for people who feel lonely etc. it will be somewhere for them to turn to when they feel they need someone to talk to, or need advice on something, it will also include games, 1-1 chat sessions, forums, blogs, personal profile page,singles/dating section as suggessted by someone else on here. i want to make this website a place where someone can socialise on and not feel left out or lonely thinking they dont have anyone. They will be able to interact with other people across teh country and they dont have to sign up to it, they can use it as a guest to play games or get a 1-1 advice, however, if they want to post things on the blog/forums etc they will need to sign up.

everything on the website will be free to use and explore except for the singles/dating section which will have a fixed price plan.

I have posted this blog on another section but didnt get many replies. Is it possible if anyone can be grateful enough to help me do some research to see how much of a demand there is for something like this and get back to me? the more the better.

    thanks guys

What would make it different from any other website on the internet? I don't see much point in setting up a website like this unless it's either going to be the best on the market, or it fills a gap in the market.

Are you doing this for profit or your own personal enjoyment? you said it was free but you mentioned paying for the dating section...there are hundreds of dating websites on the internet, and some really successful ones like Match.com. It would be very hard to compete against them.

As for doing research, just ask friends and family. And then ask people in the street, that's what one entrepreneur did when setting up his dating website. He then bought a couple of pc magazines and some software and set up a basic website, just to get a feel for the market and the demand. When business picked up, he hired a computer programmer to set up a professional website for him.
