What accent do you have?Watch
In my head, however, I have a neutral accent, because in Sweden I went to a friskola, that taught the curriculum both in Swedish and English, so subsequently I had a lot of American teachers, so that's the accent I used to have. That's also the accent I generally have when I'm drunk lol.
Just international tings, innit, you're able to pick and choose which one you want to use whenever it fits you best.
Mind, I'm not some sort of natural accent mimicker lol. I speak in standard British or RP through conditioning, I wouldn't be able to do a roadman, or chav accent because that's just not how I grew up.
I grew up in Leeds. We Leodians don't have strong accents.
BUT I've lived in Barnsley for 11 years, so very occasionally I'll sound slightly more rural than usual. Sometimes it takes me by surprise and I'll correct myself into saying it less Yorkshire-ish.
I'm from Manchester/Oldham. I'd prefer to have a Manc accent because it's a big part of my identity but I'm glad I escaped the Oldham one at least. Win some lose some.
