I completed my student Finance application the other day for my access course starting in October. But it wouldn’t allow me to put down my access course. So I had to put down the name of my actual degree that I will start next year. I’ve been told that I need to complete a change of circumstances form with student finance to change my course but it doesn’t make sense?

Basically should I have put down on my student finance my access course or my degree course?
It sounds like you have applied for the wrong type of funding. A degree is HE study and HE funding. An Access diploma is an FE course and FE funding - specifically an advanced learner loan to cover tuition fees only.
