Psychiatry doctors are available at both camhs and the adult mental health services, usually after being assessed by a psychiatric nurse or multidisciplinary team meeting. If you feel you need to be seen sooner than you have been then make sure to speak to your GP.

You can ask but there is no guarantee that you will be seen by a psychiatrist, even if your GP agrees to refer you. All referrals are screened at an MDT meeting first, where it is decided what kind of service the patient would benefit from, so you might get allocated to a CPN or referred to some kind of therapy program or some other option.
