Yeah another applicant who deferred his offer to 2010. Congrats on your offer. Im also thinking about applying to Albany Park of Fife Park allthough I really wanna go to Uni Hall, but Im not that sure if I really can afford it.
Btw where are you from? England, Scotland or an international student?

Fife Parks being knocked down after next yr...

???? Oh no yeah I remember there was a discussion about it and its obvisiously going to be replaced by a DRA style accomodation, correct me if its wrong.
Hmm Im still hoping that I can afford Uni hall or one of the other catered halls.

Yep, think that's right!
Yeh, I would suggest a catered hall for first year, it's such a good way to get to know lots of people, and great community spirit etc (not saying self-catered isn't, but it's just different living on a floor with about 40 odd people as opposed to in a flat with 5 others...)
I've been in Uni Hall this yr, and absolutely LOVED it!!! It's such an amazing place to live! I mean I obv don't know about your finances, esp as your an internatiol student (?) (sorry if I've got that wrong! :s-smilie:)...but I've just lived off a student loan all yr, no input from parents, and I've been fine... just remember you won't have to buy food, apart from at weekends, but that can easily be done for less than £1...
Albany Park is undoubtedly cheaper, and I am actually going to be living there next yr with a group of amazing friends who are all in Uni Hall as well atm (most of which are on my floor) and I can't wait!!!
I guess it depends on what you feel you can afford, and you're personal preferences, but I am so glad I went catered for first yr, and Uni Hall in particular, and am so excited for moving into Albany with such a lovely group of people!
I'm coming from England. Doesn't quite count as international (yet?).

Yeah I can see why catered is nice, I imagine it's more of a community feeling which would be fun. But I can't really afford it, and I like cooking for myself anyway. All the accommodation looks really decent though, so I wouldn't mind living in Uni Hall or similar, but self-catered would just suit me a bit better I think. I'll try and meet lots of people in other ways.

I think we need more self-catered ambassadors on here, as i feelt its rather catered biased! I'm starting to feel like i picked the wrong accomodation now :frown:

I'm self-catered hopefully, hoping for New Hall or David Russell!

:P Im so undecisive about it. Ont he one hand I love cooking for me and my friends on the other hand most people are telling me to go into catered accommodation to meet alot of new friends in your first year. The reason why Im maybe choosing catered accommodation is definitely not the food
Im a bit affraid that I wont need enough people there and end up staying there alone all the time. Btw Im an international student so Im maybe a bit more afraid about that as native speaker right here.
It would be great to have the option to be self catered in halls like Univeristy hall

Haha I agree, but New Hall is nearer to the gym and maths department, iirc.

Anyway, self-catered en-suite will be one of the two. Who knows which! We'll see....
