Ha, that was mine too, until I picked up a St Andrews prospectus of course . I'm getting freaked out by all this waiting.

Exactly:smile:, love St Andrews most! I think I'll be waiting for other 2 months:mad: .

Can someone explain to me how the second year entry thing works? I'm seeing it in some people's signatures.

Does it mean you get to do it in 3 years instead of 4? Because that'd definitely raise St Andrews to the top of my list. (Not that I even have an offer x.x) What are the conditions to do that? And if you get a normal offer, can you ask them to change it?

Edit: Nevermind. Went on a small search of my own and discovered it only applies to some science applicants. Damn that sucks.

It only applies to some degrees and to my knowledge certain science degrees. That said depending on what qualifications you already hold you may find 2nd year entry in other degrees. For example some people are given 2nd year entry with an HNC/D.

Why not email admissions and ask something like

"Dear Admissions,

It has come to my attention that some degrees undertaken at St Andrews University offer advanced entry into later years, therefore offering accelerated learning. Could you possibly advise of the named degrees this applies to and also the framework for advanced entry for holders of HNC/D type qualifications"

Blah blah blah

They will help you I am sure.
I think I am screwed. I got rejected on monday from Edinburgh, for not having a GCSE in a non-english language...will this get me rejected from St Andrews as well? :frown:

Not neccessarily. In the prospectus they say it's a preference, but not a requirement.

It feels quite good that they now seriously will start to look at what has been sent in to them.... Hopefully we will hear before end of march.

BillyMarsh, when did you send your application?
does it follow that joint honours applicons will take longer - as they have to be seen by both departments?
14th October I sent mine.... Was finished on the 30th September, reference took forever!
