I was rejected yesterday.

My comiserations _denis_, I know how it feels. I might have to take a gap year or something. What are your other choices?

Can someone explain to me how the second year entry thing works? I'm seeing it in some people's signatures.

Does it mean you get to do it in 3 years instead of 4? Because that'd definitely raise St Andrews to the top of my list. (Not that I even have an offer x.x) What are the conditions to do that? And if you get a normal offer, can you ask them to change it?

Edit: Nevermind. Went on a small search of my own and discovered it only applies to some science applicants. Damn that sucks.

I've got a 2nd year entry offer to Dundee with good grades at A-level.

just out of curiosity, has any international student recieved an offer with the condition to obtain a certain result in an english language test.
I thought I would have to do the TOEFL or IELTS but all my offers don't include such a condition.

If it's not part of an offer, it does not apply to that particular offer. I can't be 100% sure though.

I'm pretty sure you're right.

An offer is a legal contract. If a university makes you an offer with conditions, and you accept the offer and meet the conditions (which they have to specify with the offer), then by law they MUST take you, which is why once the offers are given out, universities are slightly apprehensive, since they give out more offers then they have places. If more people accept the offer and meet the conditions than the number of places, then they HAVE to make more places.

I would point out, that even if you accept the offer and meet the conditions, and you decide you don't want to go, you don't have to go, but you can't go to any other university that year.

No unfortunately I'm not at a bilingual school.
Is the test a part of your St Andrews offer?
Which course have you applied for?

It was a part of my offer, but from Dundee. I'm still waiting for a reply from St Andrews  - IR and Management. When did you get an offer from them? Lucky you.

Congratz on your offer!
I got my IR and Economics offer last Monday.
Haven't expected a decision till late february as they are know for giving out decisions very late especially for EU and UK applicants.
Is St Andrews your top choice?

I'm not really sure if they have a certain number of places for all IR student or for every single joint degree. But I think you will recieve great news from St Andrews soon:wink:
