The response time varies with department. They usually do take a while, and they'll be especially busy at this time of year. You'd best call them.

ok, i emailed the economics department (or what it's called)
do they not check their email or does it take a while for them to reply?
because my application is being reconsidered (ucas form mistake) and i was just checking in to see that they hadn't forgotten me.

My friend got rejected for English and French on christmas eve, so not hearing yet is probably a good sign!

No way, thats so awful!! I hate that they do that! My friend was rejected from oxford the same day even though hes always had the top marks in everything and was head boy of our school! Grr silly unis!

Hi applied to do psychology (BSc) at the beginning of Dec still heard nothing

I applied for International Relations at St Andrews. I got 5 As in my Highers (Scottish A Levels for you English dudes) and one was modern studies and one was german. I'm taking 3 Advanced Highers this year (sorry, don't knwo the equivelent), one of them being Modern Studies.
I still got rejected. Has anyone been accepted and could I ask what you got? I'm not vindictive or anything, I really want to go to Edinburgh, but I was wondering....

What were your other highers? Your personal statement might not have been what they wanted, or your extra cirriculars might have been lacking. It's a really competitive course so grades aren't enough unfortunately!

A-level = Adv Higher roughly and a higher is roughly the same as an AS-level. Apart from we cant apply with just AS-levels :frown:

A-level = Adv Higher roughly and a higher is roughly the same as an AS-level. Apart from we cant apply with just AS-levels :frown:

Higher is slightly below A level (hence we need 5 to get in as opposed to 3 A level), but Adv Higher is between A level and 1st yr uni... most of the stuff that I've done at uni in biology, have already covered in Adv Higher...

Same grades.
Same 6th year choices.
Same rejection.
I was pretty confident with my statement as well....
It must just be really difficult to get in this year (probably a lot of very good foreign applicants).
