I think I might possibly be going for Arabic next year, I must be insane! :O
fg08: I do Russian and Spanish, the advanced Spanish course is fairly boring but doable... I love Russian to pieces but it is a LOT of hard work, so if you're not reallycommittedto it and only want a third subject it might be better to go for French or Spanish?

Thanks, hmm I do not really wanna study the literature of the country I just wanna learn the language, you know.
Do you think it would be better to do Spanish or French as it is my intention to work for an international organization later on.

The talk about all these different fun subjects really makes choosing sooo hard. Durham is a year less, and better for my course, but, but, but...
Hiya,

I've applied for Maths and Physics second year entry. Anyone else had an offer yet? I'm still waiting and since Bath finally replied to me today, it's my last one and I'm getting all edgy!:eek3:

Hey I wouldnt say they are "fun subjects".
You have to do the same workload as those students who want to graduate in this subject.:eek3:

Well, Spanish is probably more helpful as it's more widely spoken... would you be doing the beginner's or the advanced course?

If you actually like what you're doing, you don't see it as a workload. At least, I don't. I don't mind the slightest doing my homework for History and English. I read history books for fun. Besides, I'm really good at it too haha.

I mean I also think math is interesting, but I don't think it's fun... so I am not going to study it. (Yeah and I suck at it, but you understand my point right.)

Yeah I just wanted to say that its not just fun but you have to work for it!
But I totally agree with you. I love reading about Politics and Economics so working hard in these subjects is absolutely ok.

I would be doing the beginner's course.
I guess you cant do Chinese at St Andrews, can you?
Yeah I think Spanish would be nice to learn and I really like the sound of Spanish.

No, there are no Chinese courses here. The beginner's course would be good then as I'm pretty sure there's no literature involved
Ooo beginner's spanish sounds cool. Any idea what level would be achieved after two years of taking spanish modules?

Yeah that sounds great. Do you know what the exams are like? Just translating and grammar tests or do they also involve knowledge about e.g. Latin America?
I want to try my hand at philosophy...
Just got an offer for IR w/Modern History
Philosophy at AS level killed me, I wouldn't touch it witha bargepole now

Hee! Surely it can't be that bad?!

Hee! Surely it can't be that bad?!

Oh yes, it can.
It was so dry in comparison to what I expected, more learning theories that made no sense rather than discussing our opinions and debate.

And, the fact that most of it didn't make sense makes it on the whole much less fun for me :frown:

My friend does it at uni with politics, and also hates it :|
