Oh yes, it can.
It was so dry in comparison to what I expected, more learning theories that made no sense rather than discussing our opinions and debate.

And, the fact that most of it didn't make sense makes it on the whole much less fun for me :frown:

My friend does it at uni with politics, and also hates it :|

Oh... I've read some bits of philosophy though, and after a bit of a mental challenge in getting my head around what's being said I have really enjoyed it. Though I suppose not reaching any particular conclusion is frustrating...

Hm. I would also like to take a look at Greek - it sounds wonderfully fun. Maybe Greek and medieval history if philosophy doesn't work brilliantly alongside English?

Yeah, same here! I chose philo at AS cos I was reading a bit of Sartre and had started Plato's Republic and thought...wow this is good. But it didn't work out well for me :frown: I dropped it, sooo fast.

Yeah maybe  I'm thinking more Ancient history though

Haha I did the same dropping thing with maths - about 3 weeks before the exam though! :frown:

Yeah Ancient history does look good too - completely agree with you there.

Ahhh, I am still in a crisis as to gap yearing or taking up the place!:frown:

Just got an offer for IR w/Modern History

Well done :yep:
Is it going to be your firm choice?

Just got an email from the School of Computer Science saying that I'm going to get a response in Track soon and it's their "intention that this response will be positive".

Just need to wait and see what happens next.

I don't know yet - I plan to withdraw my UCL app. seeing that I don't want to go to the interview (long story, but basically I feel that I applied under false pretences).

If I get an offer from LSE I am quite sure I'll go there... Otherwise St Andrews is my favourite, with Edinburgh being a perfect insurance should I get an offer from there (they have low conditionals, so even if I mess up my IB, I'll have a place somewhere).

Waiting on an English offer still. I'm not holding out much hope, been rejected from Cam, Durham, Edinburgh, but have a Newcastle offer. Even if i did miraculously get an offer i still may choose Newkie for the nightlife, but then again i'd be stupid to turn down an Andys offer. Well done to everyone that has offers though!

Newcastle is 15 minutes away from Durham on bus - I will be travelling down to Newcastle all the time for the clubs and 15 minutes isn't bad my friend!

Yeah that sounds great. Do you know what the exams are like? Just translating and grammar tests or do they also involve knowledge about e.g. Latin America?

Well, looking at past papers here http://exams.st-andrews.ac.uk/exams/viewModule?moduleID=4084 , I'd say it's just grammar

Ooo beginner's spanish sounds cool. Any idea what level would be achieved after two years of taking spanish modules?

Yeah its absolutely cool
I guess we should be able to talk fluently in Spanish after those two years.
It should be a lot more intensive learning experience than in school :yep:

I realized that you cant take beginner's French so its very likely that Im going to take Spanish in the first two years

Hehe I can speak Spanish decently with my cleaning lady, but I've never actually learnt it. I've just picked it up in trying to communicate with her about 1) where my socks are, 2) what needs ironing, etc. :P

Remember that the 1st year stuff is meant for those who have left school a year earlier in the Scottish system.

But yeah it's pretty easy isn't it

Hiya,

I've applied for Maths and Physics second year entry. Anyone else had an offer yet? I'm still waiting and since Bath finally replied to me today, it's my last one and I'm getting all edgy!:eek3:

Applied for the same course as you accept for first year, I haven't heard anything from them yet. The suspense is killing me.:s-smilie:
I just got rejected by Edinburgh. So I'm hoping for St Andrews right now. (I'm thinking that I have a shot as long as I haven't heard anything different) Keep your fingers crossed!
