I just got rejected by Edinburgh. So I'm hoping for St Andrews right now. (I'm thinking that I have a shot as long as I haven't heard anything different) Keep your fingers crossed!
Ahh, I got rejected from Edinburgh for English too. Would St Andrews be your firm if you get an offer?

Good Luck
Hmm. I'm not sure actually. It sort of depends. I've always sort of loved the idea of going to St Andrews (I immediately - I kid you not - fell in love with the uni when I looked up the courses etc on their website) but it also sort of depends on financial stuff and most importantly, to me anyway, whether or not I can study Politics as well (not as an honour subject though). I'm going to take a closer look on the various structures of the courses before I make a final decision. How about you? All this provided I get an offer to go there, of course. But if I don't (even if I'll be very sad), I wouldn't mind going to Glasgow. After all, education is just a tool. It's up to you what you do with it.
I was pretty much hooked the moment I set foot in the place Most definitely going to be my firm. Whether they give me an offer is another matter though. Although I'm running out of Uni's who havent' rejected me yet, so I'll probably reapply if I get rejected this year.
Got an unconditional for Computer Science! Hurray! That's all my offers back, I think Aberdeen might be choice one for me just now though, going to go to the rest of the applicant days first though.

English. ... Is it terribly impossible? :P It's so difficult to know. I have a sort of idea that it's a very popular course but I have no way of knowing.

i think english is one of the best subjects to do at st andrews! (the department has got like 5 or even 5* in the RAE assessment)... but that doesn't necessarily reflect how hard it is to get in of course.. you could possibly do ir (which is the only politics they do) as like a second or third subject - at the open day they said that you can generally choose any subject within your faculty as 2nd and 3rd provided that you have the entry requirements for it.. but i take it requirements are already sky high for english? are you doing a levels or the swedish system or?

Swedish system. People generally study 2500 points which is average and there are free grades (think something like A, B and C and of course an F but that doesn't really give you that many points obviously ) and I'm currently studying 2750 (but I'm considering to short it down to 2700) and I think I study about 32-35 courses (which is pretty insane) and I think I have roughly 45% as pending since I haven't received a grade officially yet there. And I'm sort of worried that they will get nervous by all the pendings and make my application unsuccessful

i think its to our advantage having done the swedish though, because the entry standards from british unis tend to be a bit more lax (probably because they aren't too sure of what it all means)... browsing around, i've seen quite a few courses that are like AAAAA for english students, and then just "a majority of MVG" for swedish applicants. i mean, yeah, 18-19.0 are really good grades in sweden, but it doesn't quite match to ace every a level here does it... are you doing sam or natur? and where are you from?

Oh, I just realized this second that you're Swedish too! *headdesk* Silly me.
I'm doing a social science based course with emphasis on language and globalisation (sounds probably really fancy but it doesn't feel that way :P) and I'm from the north of Sweden. How about you?

So many Swedish people. Oh I really hope there will be a lot of nice blonde Swedish girls in St Andrews :P
Haha. I wouldn't be one of them though :P I'm a proud brunette (I have blue eyes though, to add to the stereotype ). I'm actually sort of blonde with a hint of brown in it but I always think that colour is sort of bleak so I always colour it darker
