Hi all!
So back in 2017 I began studying at uni, however, I had difficult personal circumstances which lead to me leaving uni during my second year.
I applied back to university in 2020 for a course which also included a foundation year.
I applied for mitigating circumstances which then gave me back an extra year so my first year (foundation year) would be funded. However, this new course is a joint drama with english literature course and I have been considering for a while switching to either solely english literature or journalism as we had many modules covering journalism which I loved and have found a big passion for. If I changed course would this affect my student finance? Even if I'm just dropping the drama part or switching to something that was included in my foundation course? Many thanks

Yes I would be! I did consider changing universities after the foundation year as well to be closer to home but I decided against it and I believe that would affect my finance.

Have a quick chat with your university student records or registry team and check with them that your course would still be logged as a 4 year course with SLC/SFE. As long as they don't change the course length from 4 years to 3 years then it wont affect your funding.
